The aftermath of the aggression launched by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13 was presented

Joint Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration and the RF FA State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Held

This year is significant for us, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the RA and RF, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. These events mark the beginning of the present phase of the development of the Armenian-Russian ally relations, which correspond our peoples’ vital interests. The RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Vagharshak Hakobyan said about this on November 10.

Welcoming the participants of the joint sitting, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee informed that the perspectives and priorities of the EAEU development within the framework of the parliamentary cooperation in the period of current global challenges, as well as issues on the only land checkpoint connecting the two countries, Upper Lars, will be discussed today.

Noting that during the last several months, problems again emerged connected with the checkpoint, Vagharshak Hakobyan expressed hope that at the siting they will be able to present distinctly, detailed and consonantly the proposed problems, to find rational solutions and to outline new vectors of effective and constructive cooperation. The speaker also touched upon the situation in the region and the problems regarding the security of Armenia. In particular, the aftermath of the aggression launched by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13 was presented.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of RF Federal Assembly State Duma Kazbek Taysayev, thanking the Armenian MPs for warm reception, mentioned that there is positive experience of effective cooperation between the two countries. The allied and partnership relations between the two countries are based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship, fraternal close ties and mutual support. He also expressed conviction that as a result of mutual; discussion of the emerged problems, appropriate solutions will be given.

After the end of the joint meeting, Vagharshak Hakobyan and Kazbek Taysayev made statements, presenting the issues discussed during the meeting to the journalists.
