“The European Union partly provoked the Lachin Corridor scandal with gas deals with the Baku dictator.” Peter Van Dalen

January 20,2023 13:33

“The blockade of Lachin Corridor is a scandal.” Hundreds of thousands of people are under siege,” European Parliament member Pieter Van Dalen (EPP, Netherlands) said during an urgent debate-discussion at the plenary session of the European Parliament on January 18.

According to Peter Van Dalen, that scandal was partly provoked by the European Union. He elaborated: “The European Union partly provoked this scandal. Gas deals with the dictator of Baku provoked it. With that, he moved on. Stop these gas deals; we need to build an air bridge to that region.”

According to a member of the European Parliament, one can only talk with Azerbaijan in the language of sanctions. Van Dalen said: “Sanctions should be applied to Azerbaijan; we cannot talk to the dictator of Baku. Only sanctions can put him in his place.”
