The Human Rights Defender sent a letter to the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner, the Director General of UNICEF and other international human rights organizations and actors.
The Ombudsman referred to the violations of the children’s rights to education and other fundamental rights, the humanitarian crisis caused as a result of the blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan, followed by deliberate disruptions of the work of Artsakh’s critical infrastructure.
The Ombudsman emphasized that the inactive attitude by the international community is unacceptable which entails to the violation of children’s right to education and other fundamental rights and urged the mentioned organizations and actors to go beyond the limits of calls and condemnations towards taking concrete targeted actions and to stay committed to the principles of the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
