On 3 February, representatives of local authorities, members of Local Action Groups (LAGs) piloting the EU LEADER approach for rural development in Shirak region, had an opportunity to exchange with Andrea Wiktorin, EU Ambassador to Armenia and Mushegh Muradyan, Governor of Shirak on local development challenges and opportunities.
Ambassador Wiktorin has in particular underlined the importance and effectiveness of the partnership model practiced by the LAGs and the transformational potential of collaborative action among local authorities, civil society and local businesses to drive local development.
The LEADER approach is piloted in Shirak region by the Austrian Development Agency in the framework of the LEAD4Shirak project co-funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Cooperation.
