“How dare you make a turn in foreign policy?” Former Prime Minister of Armenia

February 17,2023 12:22

“Today, the issue of Armenia is being resolved in Berdzor. Today, Armenia is a factor because Artsakh exists. They cannot attack Armenia until they destroy Artsakh,” said Hrant Bagratyan, chairman of the “Liberty” party, at the meeting of the new movement announced by some parties, political and public figures. Bagratyan reminded us that our nation has made many big mistakes throughout history. In 1045, King Gagik handed over the keys of Ani to the Romans and left.

“I still cannot understand why the army did not arrest that king Gagik. Our nation made many mistakes, took out the keys to his state, handed them away, and said: we are gone. Now, do we have to agree with that? And what is happening to the nation today? Pashinyan is blackmailing, saying: listen, whatever government comes, you will be a victim again. In other words, the Turks have come; shouldn’t we defend ourselves? Let’s understand, will we be saved by defending ourselves, creating an army, or this way? We will not be saved; no one will be saved.”

Bagratyan noted that a few days ago, Mexico, a country of 130 million people, accepted the Genocide. Mexico and Uruguay are the countries that, if we recognize Artsakh, will also recognize. “Do understand, we (the government) are already giving an order; we are about to provide an order for other countries not to discuss the Genocide issues anymore. The state should have officially thanked them. But where are we going? No one here is a hawk, except perhaps Albert Bazeyan. We’re not calling for war. Today 10 people are ready to face the disaster; let it be 10; tomorrow, it will be 10 thousand. Any force along the way should come and join us. In general, we are solving the problem of existence for the Armenian people, for Yerevan, not for Karabakh. There is no such key to give Artsakh, we will live well, or we will live at all, as the current government thinks; there is no such thing.

Let’s express our gratitude that even 100 people did not want to leave Artsakh today because they understand. As if we are living now, there is heating, light, and everything will end. We are uncomfortable with the one-sided hostility that today’s government is taking towards some traditionally considered friendly countries. There will be no gas, nothing. Let’s think wise. Can you develop relationships with both Western and traditional partners? How many heads do you have? You have changed the foreign policy at once. We even refused the weapons provided to us, though they gave us not enough, and we were unsatisfied. What will be the end of this?”
