From the point of view of enhancing human rights standards, the proper culture of collaboration between state bodies is important: Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan participated in the discussion on issues related to fostering the execution of the European Court of Human Rights judgments at the institutional level
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, in the framework of her working visit to Strasbourg, met with the CoE Secretary General Ms. Marija Pejčinović Burić, President of the European Court of the Human Rights Ms. Síofra O’Leary, CoE Director General Mr. Christos Giakoumopoulos and Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein, Chair of the Human Rights meetings of the Ministers’ Deputies, Mr. Domenik Wanger, with the other members of the High-level delegation of the Interagency Committee.
During the meetings, issues related to the execution of the judgments of the European Court, the implementation of international obligations assumed by the European Convention on Human and the formation and activity of the Interagency Committee of the Republic of Armenia for oversight over the execution of the ECtHR judgments were discussed. The necessity of effective steps of Armenia toward the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights was emphasized, and the creation of an interagency committee was especially important in that regard.
Within the framework of the meetings, the Defender presented the implemented and planned activities in the direction of protecting and guaranteeing of human rights.

Referring to the issues related to the execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan noted the importance of the mechanism of the execution of ECHR judgments from the point of view of the implementation of human rights standards, considering it one of the best tools for solving systemic issues.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance of the proper implementation of standards on the prohibition of torture and other forms of ill-treatment, the right to liberty, freedom of assembly, and other fundamental rights and the necessity to exclude hate speech. In order to strengthen the standards mentioned above, the Defender highlighted the importance of cooperation between state bodies and the culture of dialogue formation.
The Defender stressed the importance of continuous collaboration with the Council of Europe, including the European Court of Human Rights.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan also participated in the launch event of the Armenian user interface of HUDOC. The structure and functional opportunities of the website were presented to the members of the Interagency Committee.
Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan has been in Strasbourg on a working visit on May 11 to 12 as a member of the High-level delegation of the Interagency Committee of the Republic of Armenia created to organize the ongoing work arising from the international obligations assumed by the European Convention on Human Rights, including oversight over the execution of the ECHR judgments.
