Let’s note that according to the results of the parliamentary elections held in Turkey, Garo Paylan will no longer be in the Turkish Parliament. Regarding the statue of Nemesis, he said: “Just before these elections, the Turkish Foreign Minister, unfortunately, used this. Here we have thousands of streets and schools named after Talaat Pasha; Armenia can also say why there are roads named after Talaat Pasha.” After these elections, we asked his perspective on Armenian-Turkish relations; he answered: “Erdoğan already had alliances with nationalists, now he made more alliances with nationalists in his coalition. Now Turkey has a more nationalist parliament, Erdoğan has a majority, and there will be a more nationalist government. It is not good news in Turkish-Armenian relations. We will try hard to convince Erdoğan’s party, but my hope is less. Before these elections, we would have more hope if we could change the government. We have hope again.”

Garo Paylan answered: “Presidents decide everything. If Erdoğan wanted something, it would happen in one day, but unfortunately, Erdoğan doesn’t want it. We saw this before the elections. We waited for the road to open; they discussed the plane’s route. These are not good signals, not good news. But if the conditions change, anything can happen. Now the conditions are not good; there is a more nationalist parliament and more alliances with nationalists. That is not good news about Turkey-Armenia relations.”
