According to Nubar Afeyan, Co-Founder of the “Future Armenian” initiative, we have lived as a nation for thousands of years but do not have political maturity.
“Politically, we must mature and take mature steps. We cannot cooperate just by voting; the vote is the first step, then we have to take steps to unite with ideas,” said Nubar Afeyan during the summary of the results of the first “Future Armenian” forum at the American University.
One of the participants of the meeting asked Mr. Afeyan if he thinks it is possible for 5 or 7 million people to gather and, as a result of a general discussion, set a goal for themselves and achieve that goal, in response Afeyan said: “I mean, if you propose that we reach a future without a leader, I have never heard that we express such an idea.

In our words, there was never the idea that six or seven million would vote together to decide something others would follow. I don’t know where your idea comes from, but if we look at the examples of Israel or Singapore or other examples, the leaders who have succeeded have listened to their people and represented them not only with votes but also with ideas. They have found a way to convince the people that their version is not compelling, but more acceptable.”
