For five days now, the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the world has been blocked for even the transportation of seriously ill patients and import of humanitarian goods. The “Artsakh Security and Development Front” condemns the international community’s neglect of the complete siege of Artsakh.
We consider the response to 120,000 citizens of the Republic of Artsakh — including 30,000 children, 20,000 elderly, and hundreds of patients in need of urgent treatment — with declarative statements regarding the humanitarian problems that are exacerbated day by day and leaving Azerbaijan’s gross violations of international law without consequences as the application of double standards by international organizations and as encouraging ethnic cleansing and genocidal aspirations against the native people living in their homeland.
The authorities of the Republic of Armenia, replacing the established right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh with the unclear wording of “rights and security of Armenians living in Karabakh,” are actually leading Artsakh to annexation by Azerbaijan.
It is also unacceptable that the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh, left out of the negotiations on issues related to the fate of their own people, limit themselves only to calls for “strict economizing” to the population in order to prevent a humanitarian disaster.
The Azerbaijani checkpoint on the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the world is an obvious violation of the provisions of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. Therefore, we request the Russian peacekeeping forces to ensure the fulfillment of the provisions stipulated in said declaration by immediately unblocking the corridor.
We call on all Armenian organizations and national structures, our compatriots living in various countries around the world, to raise a voice of protest in connection with the disaster that has befallen the people of Artsakh and appeal to the governments and parliaments of their countries of residence with the demand to apply international sanctions against Azerbaijan.
We demand from the authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh to undertake urgent action, arising from the responsibility assumed before the Armenian people to protect the sovereignty of the people of Artsakh.
We will fight with all possible means for our right to live freely in our homeland, and any aggression directed against the Republic of Artsakh will receive an equivalent response.
