“Armenia’s relations with Georgia is one of the priorities of our country’s foreign policy,” the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mnatsakan Safaryan said presenting the draft law on Ratifying the Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and Georgia on Mutual Visa-Free Travel for Citizens of the Two States signed in January 2023 for debate at June 26 extraordinary session.

It was noted that the Agreement stems from the 2021-26 plan of the RA Government.

According to him, the document stipulates that the citizens of one state, regardless of their place of permanent residence, have the right to enter, stay in transit, and exit the territory of the other state without a visa during any one hundred and eighty days following the date of crossing the border of the receiving state, for a period not exceeding 90 days, on the basis of the documents confirming the identity and citizenship of the citizens of Armenia and Georgia.

The Deputy Minister also informed that the Georgian side has already ratified the Agreement.

The co-rapporteur, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan, presenting the endorsement of the Head Committee, stated that our country attaches importance to the development of relations with the countries of the region. The Committee Chair especially underlined the necessity to develop purposeful, friendly relations with Georgia, and the ratification of this Agreement will promote it.

The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Shirak Torosyan, highlighting the ratification of the Agreement, mentioned that only countries with real warm friendly relations take such a step. According to him, relations between Armenia and Georgia are at the highest level.

The Parliament adopted the draft law.
