On November 8, the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs convened a sitting, The Deputy Chair of the Committee Rustam Bakoyan moderated it.
The deputies in the second reading debated the bill on Making Amendment and Addenda to the law on Advocacy authored by the Government.
According to the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan,, it is proposed by the draft to create legal bases to pay for the overtime work done by the public defenders – to allocate money from the state budget in the amount of fifteen percent of the salary fund to the Public Defender’s Office.
“It is proposed to allocate the money only for overtime work. The proposal will not refer to the Head and Deputy Heads of the Office,” the Deputy Minister underlined and touched upon the necessity of the draft adoption.

The co-rapporteur, the Committee Member Marina Ghazaryan noted that from the first to the second reading the initiative was not modified, as proposals were not presented. The MP urged her colleagues to vote for the draft.
The Committee endorsed the initiative. The debate of the issue will be included in the agenda of the regular sittings to be convened on December 5.
