Gyumri to be named CIS sports capital 2024

Armradio.am.  Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan participated in the sitting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.

Addressing the meeting, Mher Grigoryan emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of culture and noted that in 2024, the Armenian city of Gyumri will receive the honorary status of the CIS sports capital and will open its doors to all those who wish to participate in upcoming sports events and get acquainted with the cultural heritage of the “city of masters”.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that during the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the UNESCO Convention “On the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage” a decision was made to include Gyumri’s blacksmithing tradition in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
