On January 29, the RA NA Vice President, the member of the RA NA delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Hakob Arshakyan received the delegation led by the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong. The members of the delegation Hasmik Hakobyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan took part in the meeting.
Hakob Arshakyan presented to the guests the regional developments and existing challenges. The NA Vice President touched upon the events happened in the region and the consequences of large-scale attack of Azerbaijan of September 19, 2023. Regarding the negotiations on the Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the NA Vice President detailed the key principles acceptable for the Armenian side.
The process of the exchange of the captives being and other persons held in Azerbaijan and issues regarding the preservation of the Armenian historical-cultural values being in Nagorno Karabakh. Hakob Arshakyan highlighted the necessity of releasing all held captives and persons.
Issues regarding the holding of the 10th Forum of Young MPs of the Inter-Parliamentary Union were discussed. Hakob Arshakyan proposed to hold the event in Yerevan, in September.

Tsovinar Vardanyan underscored that despite challenges, the Armenian side is ready to advance the agenda for peace and work in that direction. In this context she highlighted the dialogue between the sides.
Hasmik Hakobyan expressed hope that her proposal on choosing the theme of the 10th Forum of Young MPs will be accepted in Geneva. The Armenian delegate proposed to discuss the role of the young people in the peace process, taking into consideration the situation in the world.
Martin Chungong highly appreciated the readiness of Armenia to have an effective dialogue. He noted that during his visit to Baku they will make efforts for promoting the peace process. The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union referred to the problem of the cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh and the process of the exchange of captives.
