The Head of the Parliament touched upon the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue of the Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan

The NA President Alen Simonyan gave a speech at the opening of the 11th Plenary Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, being held on March 20-22 in the capital of Belgium, Brussels.

In his speech, the Head of the Parliament touched upon the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the issue of the Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan, the provision of information on missing persons and the sending of the UNESCO Mission to preserve the cultural heritage in the region.

The NA President highlighted and expressed his satisfaction with the willingness to deploy and expand the EU Civilian Mission in Armenia, underscoring that the deployment of the EU Mission in Armenia has improved the security situation in the country’s border regions.

The Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly consists of the Head of the National Assembly delegation to the Euronest PA, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Maria Karapetyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Sargis Khandanyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Arman Yeghoyan, the deputies from the same Faction Babken Tunyan and Tatevik Gasparyan, the deputies of Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan, Anna Grigoryan and Elinar Vardanyan.

Within the framework of the plenary session, a plenary meeting titled The impact of the further expansion of the EU on the Eastern Partnership (EaP) was held, on which speeches were delivered by Maria Karapetyan, Sargis Khandanyan, and Artur Khachatryan.
