The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan met with the representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
The Head of Division for Eastern Europe of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Emil Gelebo, the Desk Officer of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Anton Ruus Stjärnmira, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia Patrik Svensson and the Second Secretary of the Embassy Nicolina Nilsson took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the guests in the National Assembly of Armenia, Sargis Khandanyan noted that in the last several years, positive dynamic of development is noticeable in the relations between Armenia and Sweden.
“Sweden is a key country and a partner for us. We appreciate the support of Sweden in the development of democracy in Armenia and in deepening of Armenia-EU relations,” Sargis Khandanyan said, assessing the reality of the deployment of the EU Civilian Observation Mission on the border of Armenia.

In terms of maintaining achievements and its continuity in the parliamentary cooperation, the Committee Chair highlighted the activity of the Friendship Groups of parliaments of the two countries.
Thanking Sargis Khandanyan for the opportunity of the meeting and warm words, the Head of Division for Eastern Europe of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Emil Gelebo noted that the Government of Sweden is ready to support the democratic reforms of Armenia. He also emphasized the parliamentary cooperation and the close work between the Friendship Groups.
Emil Gelebo underscored the important and necessary role of the EU Civilian Observation Mission.
Sargis Khandanyan presented in detail the opportunities being given through the Crossroads of Peace Project crafted by the RA Government, stressing the practical support of the international partners in implementing it.
The interlocutors exchanged ideas on the key themes of the RA-EU Partnership broad agenda, the cooperation on the Eastern Partnership platform and the regional security.
