The National Assembly began the work of the regular sittings on April 30.
In order to include in the draft agenda of the seventh session of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly, the deputies debated the draft of the NA statement on Delimitation and Demarcation between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan authored by the NA Armenia Faction, which was presented by the deputy of Armenia Faction Artur Khachatryan.
The NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations debated the draft on April 23 and didn’t endorse it.

Giving a speech, the key rapporteur criticized the delimitation process and noted that the Faction tried to present a statement that would regulate that process. The opposition Faction is in favor of delimitation, but according to them, it should be based on the factual borders since 1993.
In her related speech, the member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Maria Karapetyan mentioned that not a single millimeter of Armenia’s territory is given to anyone by the delimitation process. “Currently, the delimitation and demarcation processes are nothing but the processes of reproduction of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The process of reproduction of the current, existing state border of Armenia. A pillar can be placed on that border,” she underlined.
It was pointed out that as of September 1993, taking the border as a basis, Armenia will renounce its state border and return to the logic of military operations.
“This is absolutely unacceptable and contains legal, political, diplomatic and military risks for the Republic of Armenia. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan signed the Alma-Ata Declaration on December 21, 1991, thus joining the newly created Organization of Commonwealth of Independent States,” Maria Karapetyan said.
The Secretary of the NA Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan stated that the Faction will vote against the draft, because it contains dangers and risks for the statehood of the Republic of Armenia.
As a result of voting, the draft was not included in the agenda of the session. 27 MPs voted for and 51 MPs voted against it.
The Parliament approved the agenda of the regular sittings, after which the debate of the draft laws began.
