U.S. Embassy in Yerevan and American Councils Hold “U.S. Exchange Alumni Uniting for Progress in Armenia” Conference

The U.S. Embassy in Yerevan and American Councils hosted the inaugural annual networking and professional development conference “U.S. Exchange Alumni Uniting for Progress in Armenia” On May 24-26, 2024.  The three-day event convened USG alumni in Armenia to discuss themes such as civic engagement, social responsibility, and combating disinformation.  U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan delivered remarks at the opening of the conference.

“Exchange alumni play a vital role in supporting Armenia’s democratic development, driving innovation, and fostering regional peace,” said Ambassador Kvien. “We are proud to partner with our alumni to strengthen the U.S.-Armenia partnership, which is getting stronger every day.”

The conference promises to be a transformative event, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and actionable strategies for a brighter future in Armenia. Over 20 distinguished speakers and panelists from various sectors, including government, education, and business, contributed their insights. The discussion topics included civic engagement, social responsibility, education impact, peacebuilding, high-tech opportunities, grant writing, and career development. In addition, the alumni participated in networking sessions and activities, fostering collaboration and engagement.

Key sessions included a panel discussion “USG Alumni for Armenia,” focusing on alumni impact, “Educational Ecosystems: Insights from Diverse Academic Frontiers,” “Building Bridges: Perspectives on Peacebuilding,” and “Women Talks: Exploring Gender Dynamics.” Additionally, the conference offered training sessions on grant writing, mental health, conflict resolution, and navigating career paths.

The Armenia Alumni Support & Engagement (A2SE) Program, a strategic initiative by the U.S. Department of State facilitated by the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan in partnership with American Councils for International Education, hosted around 150 USG Alumni at this groundbreaking conference. This initiative aims to connect and empower alumni to make lasting impacts in their communities.
