Updated Information on Incidents and Accidents Caused by Flooding in Lori and Tavush Regions on May 26

Flooding Details:
Due to torrential rain on May 26, the Debed, Aghstev, and Tashir rivers in the Lori and Tavush regions flooded, causing significant damage.

– Casualties:
– 3 victims in the disaster zone.
– An unidentified citizen near Sanahin Bridge.
– Avag Avagyan (1948) from Haghtanak settlement, recovered near Ptghavan settlement’s soccer field.
– Saribek Balyan (1985) recovered near Shnogh village.

Damage in Tavush Region:
– 2 bridges collapsed, 1 damaged.
– 3 residential houses collapsed.
– 45 houses, 2 hotels, 18 public and other buildings flooded.
– 25 units of engineering equipment (20 tippers, 5 cranes) were deployed by the regional governor’s office.

Damage in Lori Region:
– The 31st km of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi section of the M6 highway was flooded, with about 50 meters of the section collapsing.
– 7 bridges and 70 buildings of various significance were damaged.
– Approach roads and bridges to several settlements were damaged or submerged, but alternative routes are available for delivering basic necessities.

Rescue Operations:
– Rescue Service Involvement: 30 combat units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ rescue service are conducting rescue operations with 324 rescue workers.

– Evacuations and Rescues:
– 269 people were evacuated from various settlements in Lori and Tavush.
– 120 people were saved.
– Total: 347 people in Lori, 42 in Tavush.

Additional Measures:
– Rescuers are assisting with the transportation of essential items.
– Evacuation was also carried out at Sanahin station via river crossing.

Road Closures and Detours:
– Closed Routes: Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Ayrum-Bagratashen and Dilijan-Ijevan.
– Detour Recommendations: Drivers are urged to bypass the M-6 on the M-3 Margara-Vanadzor-Tashir-Aryan border and M-1 Yerevan-Gyumri-Aryan border interstate highways when traveling to the Georgian border.
