Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Syunik region. Within the framework of the visit, the Head of the Government got acquainted with the progress of the works carried out in the region with subsidy and other programs.
The first stop of the Prime Minister was in the city of Kapan. Nikol Pashinyan got acquainted with the works of cleaning the bed, restoration and repair of concrete platforms, retaining walls of Vachagan river in the section from the bridge adjacent to the Kapan Medical Center to the confluence of Voghji and Vachagan rivers, reconstruction of sidewalks. The completion of the construction works is scheduled for July 25 this year. Under the subsidy program, 500 m of the river bed was cleaned and furnished, the cost of the contract is 295.2 million AMD, of which 174 million AMD was provided by the government.
In the same community, the Prime Minister also got acquainted with the reconstruction of the building of Kapan Kindergarten No. 9 and the improvement of the area. Construction works are underway, completion is expected in the coming months. As a result of the implementation of the project, the community will have an equipped kindergarten for 170 children. The value of the contract is 295 million AMD, of which the share of the government is 80 percent – 236 million AMD.
Next, the Head of the Government got acquainted with the progress of the works of the M-2, Yerevan-Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri-Iran border interstate highway from Syunik village to Kapan. The length of the road is 4 km, the cost is 1.404 billion AMD, which was allocated from the state budget.

Then, Nikol Pashinyan was introduced to the works of the new Kapan-Chakaten road. The length of the road is 7.5 km, the cost is AMD 1,454.5 billion. The funds were allocated from the state budget.
Next, Nikol Pashinyan visited Chakaten, Shikahogh, Srashen, Nerkin Hand, Tsav settlements of Kapan community, met the local residents, got acquainted with their problems. In particular, they referred to the formation of an agricultural cooperative, the construction of a drinking water line, the repair of roofs, housing construction and other topics. Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the existing problems are in the center of the government’s attention and, appropriate solutions will be given to them in accordance with their importance and order.
Among the road construction projects, the Head of the Government got acquainted with the repair works carried out in the 17.2 km long section of Kapan-Tsav-Meghri. The cost of the project is 1.046 billion drams, the funds were allocated from the state budget.
Next, Nikol Pashinyan was presented with the progress of the construction works of the 32 km Agarak-Kajaran section of the North-South highway. The works started in May 2024, completion is planned at the end of 2026. The cost of the project is 214.4 mln. USD, and the construction works are carried out by two Iranian companies. Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the strategic nature of the above-mentioned project for the region and emphasized the quality and timely implementation of construction works.
In Kajaran, within the framework of the government-community subsidy program, parks, a sports field and a playground were reconstructed at a total cost of 240 million AMD. The government’s share is 50 percent, 120 million AMD. The cost of the sports field on Teryan Street in Kajaran is 45.3 million AMD. The Prime Minister got acquainted with the implemented works, talked with the residents, who thanked them for the improvement works and the created conditions.
Nikol Pashinyan visited the Kapan football stadium, which will be reconstructed and brought to a proper condition, meeting the international competition standards. Recently, the government made a decision to recognize the public’s overriding interest in the Kapan football stadium. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the adopted decision, which will contribute to the development and popularization of football in Kapan.
The construction works of the M-2 Aghvani-Tatev interstate highway bypassing Verin Khotanan were also presented to the Head of Government. The length of the road is 11.04 km, the cost of the project is 3.018 billion AMD. The funds were allocated from the state budget.
The Prime Minister’s last stop today was in Shurnukh settlement. There, Nikol Pashinyan was present at the ceremony of drawing lots for the distribution of newly built private houses. As a result of the implementation of the government program, 13 private houses were built for 13 families, including 12 families who lost their houses will receive a house and cattle ranch. The cost of the project is 1.21 billion AMD. Prime Minister Pashinyan toured the private houses, familiarized himself with the created conditions and congratulated the residents on the occasion of moving into their homes.
“I want to believe that this district is a symbol of the new life of Shurnukh, Goris, Syunik and the Republic of Armenia, where there are all conditions for living and working. I wish all of you good health, to have the strength to work and in the meantime see its results, get rich and enrich our country,” said the Prime Minister. Nikol Pashinyan referred to the visits to different settlements of Syunik region and the meetings with the residents, emphasizing that they gave him great energy. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that he felt support for the peace and demarcation agendas in all settlements. The Prime Minister emphasized that we are going through a difficult process, but today our country is stable, independent, sovereign and is increasing its level of sovereignty and independence every day, and this is primarily due to the understanding and support of the public. “We have to build the Real Armenia step by step, consistently. This is the Real Armenia, where real people live, where living is not a shame, where people should love life, where loving life should be possible, living, working, getting rich, living prosperously should be possible,” said the Prime Minister.
