On July 24, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan visited the exhibition titled Fragments of Italian Art in Armenia with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia Alfonso Di Riso accompanied by the Director of the National Gallery of Armenia Marina Hakobyan. It is dedicated to the National Day of Italy – the proclamation of the Republic.

The NA Vice President and the Ambassador watched paintings, graphic artworks and engravings, sculpture works and unique pieces of decorative-applied art, dating back to the 14th –20th centuries. Works of such world famous artists, as Tintoretto and Ricci, Gvercino and Strozzi, Gouardi, Canaletto, sculptors Donatello and Canova, masters of graphics and engravings Farinatti and Piranesi and Cambiazo and Panini are presented.

“It was a great surprise for me to know that beautiful and unique works of the Italian such well-known authors are kept in the National Gallery. This is a section that needs to be shown more. I express my gratitude to the Embassy of Italy and the Ambassador for such initiative, as well as the Staff of the Gallery for organizing the exhibition at high level. I hope that such initiatives will be continuous, and we’ll have still occasions for visiting similar exhibitions,” Hakob Arshakyan noted.

The exhibition was opened with the cooperation of the National Gallery of Armenia and the Embassy of Italy.

The NA Vice President and the Ambassador of Italy to our country also watched the paintings and graphic works of the Armenian great marinist Hovhannes Aivazovsky presented in the National Gallery of Armenia.
