On August 30, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Ana Olivera, the President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay. The Vice President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay, Pedro Federico Khisdonyan, also attended the meeting.
Following the discussions during Minister Mirzoyan’s visit to Montevideo in March, Ararat Mirzoyan and Ana Olivera touched upon the steps aimed at further deepening the partnership in various fields in line with the high-level political dialogue and friendly ties formed between the two countries. In this regard, the importance of opening Armenia’s resident embassy in Montevideo during the Minister’s visit was stressed, as it was aimed at further activating the cooperation between Armenia and Uruguay.
The interlocutors pointed out the areas in which there is a significant potential, including tourism and sports, and expressed their willingness to contribute to the further development of cooperation in those directions.
Minister Mirzoyan also emphasized the increasing dynamics of high-level visits, as well as the role of activities of friendship groups operating in the parliaments of the two countries in expanding the cooperation agenda between the two countries.

Minister Mirzoyan added: “Armenia highly appreciates the principal position shown by the Parliament of Uruguay in matters of protection of fundamental principles of international law, human rights, and universal values.”
Regional issues were also touched upon at the meeting. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia presented the latest developments in the normalization process of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In the context of regional stability and ensuring lasting peace Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of signing the peace treaty.
