On February 19, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan gave a welcoming speech at the 24th Congress of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
Welcoming the participants of the Congress, the Vice President of the National Assembly highlighted the role of associations within the framework of state-private partnership, positively assessing the pace of the UATE development.
The Union unites more than 200 local and international companies, aiming to transform Armenia into a high-tech center that creates maximum value. UATE will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025. With the vision of transforming Armenia into a high-tech center, the UATE continues to expand the capabilities of Armenia’s technology sector.
“Over the past five years, the gross turnover in the high-tech and industrial sectors has increased by more than 4.5 times, the number of employees by 2.5 times, and the gross domestic product (GDP) has now exceeded 7.6% from 2.6%,” Hakob Arshakyan said, emphasizing that the high-tech industry sector in Armenia is gradually becoming a leader. He highlighted the importance of intensive investments in the educational and scientific sectors, noting that over the past five years, funding for science has increased more than 3.5 times, and the overall budget of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry has increased more than 5.5 times.

Speaking about the challenges, the NA Vice President underscored the necessity to promote cooperation between science, education and industry, highlighting the need for state strategic development programmes at this stage. He informed that within the framework of the Science and Technology Development Council of Armenia under the leadership of the RA Prime Minister, work is being carried out in five priority areas: artificial intelligence, microelectronics, robotics and aerospace, quantum technologies and biotechnology, to develop and submit to the Government state development programmes, which will be addressed to programmes aimed at rapid development in the areas of education, science and industry.
Hakob Arshakyan wished the Union success, expressing his readiness to support the state and the association cooperation.
