On 11 April, Mr. Samvel Mkrtchyan, Head of the Department of Europe has received the second EU expert mission in the framework of the Armenia – European Union Visa Liberalisation Dialogue. From the Armenian side, representatives of the Departments of Europe, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues, Treaties and International Law and Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the meeting. The EU expert mission consisted of sectoral experts from the EU Member States, representatives of the European Commission, the European External Action Service and the EU Delegation to Armenia.
During the meeting, a number of issues related to fundamental rights and international cooperation in this area have been discussed. Representatives of the EU expert mission informed the Armenian counterparts on the discussions on preventing and combating organised crime, confiscation of illicit assets, corruption and financial crimes held with the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia in the framework of the visit.
The aim of the visit is to conduct an overall assessment of the preparedness of Armenia in order to develop relevant benchmarks for the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
