During the debate of the document on the process and results of the implementation of the RA Government Programme (2021-2026) for 2024, the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan delivered related reports.
Babken Tunyan considered the 5.9% economic growth recorded last year to be a fairly good indicator.
Referring to the criticisms voiced regarding the increase in state debt, the MP noted: “If we look at what caused the increase in the state debt, we will see that the main increase in the debt occurred as a result of Covid and the war in 2020, because there were health, social and many other problems, and during that time we had a decrease in business activity and tax revenues and at the same time an increase in expenses.”
According to Babken Tunyan, our gross domestic product in 2024 exceeded 10 trillion AMD. The MP reminded that it was 6 trillion AMD in 2018. “We had a 70% growth in gross domestic product in the post-revolutionary period,” the Deputy Chair of the Committee underlined.
