On July 20, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan publicly announced his plan to convene a gathering with his supporters in the central square of Vagharshapat and to launch yet another assault on the Mother See.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin condemns this attempt to incite hostility and violence, which is a flagrant interference in the life of the Armenian Church and its self-governance.
We call on the ruling political force to halt its anti-church and unlawful campaign and to direct its efforts toward addressing the grave challenges confronting our country. At the same time, we appeal to the competent state authorities and officials to take all necessary and lawful measures to prevent this unlawful action.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin deeply cherishes the love and fidelity of our devout people toward the Mother Church and their zeal in safeguarding the spiritual center of the Armenian nation and our sacred heritage. We urge the faithful children of our people not to yield to the provocations of the authorities, but to remain vigilant and steadfast, and to unite in faith and a prayerful spirit in the face of present trials.
