The meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset took place in Strasbourg.
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit to Strasbourg and emphasized the fact of active and effective cooperation established between the Council of Europe and the Government of Armenia. According to Alain Berset, this cooperation has contributed to the promotion of institutional reforms in the Republic of Armenia in all directions. He expressed confidence that the programs envisaged within the framework of bilateral cooperation will continue to be successfully implemented in the future.
Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked for the warm welcome and noted that this visit, six years after the first visit in 2019, takes place at an important time. According to the Prime Minister, Armenia, having overcome the difficult challenges of the last five years, is at a turning point in its development. He emphasized that Armenia considers the Council of Europe a strategic partner for democratic development and highlighted the role of the institution in strengthening democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
The parties highly appreciated the fact of the effective implementation of Armenia-Council of Europe cooperation activities, as well as discussed bilateral agenda issues, referring to the process of democratic reforms in Armenia.
