Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council, co-chaired the annual joint meeting of the UNGA80 Second Committee and ECOSOC, together with Ambassador Lamin Dibba of the Gambia, Chair of the C2.
The discussions underscored the need to move from fragmented, project-based approaches toward truly systemic and risk-informed financing that brings together public, private, concessional, and philanthropic resources around shared goals.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized that with only five years remaining to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, incremental change will not suffice. He highlighted the importance of reimagining partnerships — from public–private to multilateral cooperation — to unlock long-term value for people and planet.
Participants shared examples of how inclusive, gender-responsive, and locally anchored solutions can drive transformation across food systems, green transitions, and sustainable livelihoods. The meeting also explored ways to align public budgets, private investments, and multilateral support to catalyze large-scale societal transitions.
