Armenpress. The European Union will support Armenia in countering potential hybrid threats ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for the summer of 2026, as well as in strengthening cybersecurity, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said.
Commissioner Kos made the announcement during a press conference with visiting Armenian media representatives in Brussels.
She cited Moldova’s experience, where, according to the EU official, Russia attempted to interfere in the parliamentary elections through the active spread of disinformation and cyberattacks.
The EU Commissioner stated that the European Union is ready to allocate 12 million euros to help Armenia effectively combat similar hybrid attacks that may occur ahead of the elections.

She explained that this support will help strengthen the capacities of Armenia’s relevant institutions to anticipate and respond to hybrid threats.
Kos added that the 12 million euros will not be allocated solely to the Armenian government; civil society and the media will also be able to benefit from it, as their role is equally important in effectively countering hybrid threats.
The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of the active involvement of the Armenian government in effectively combating hybrid threats, stressing that without such involvement, achieving tangible results is simply not possible.
In this context, the Commissioner highlighted the particular importance of having strong, capable institutions that are prepared to deliver an adequate response to hybrid threats.
