Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN’s Post
I was honored to meet with the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, together with fellow members of the Economic and Social Council Bureau. Our exchange focused on the Council’s work and its growing relevance in today’s complex global environment, particularly as ECOSOC marks its 80th anniversary.
I emphasized the importance of effective coordination that delivers concrete results on the ground, the role of biodiversity in advancing sustainable development, and the specific needs of countries in special situations, including landlocked countries and middle-income countries.
We also discussed how ECOSOC can further strengthen its direction-setting role and better mobilize the UN system through greater coherence, accountability and impact, in support of Member States’ priorities.
