On 18 February Vassilis Maragos, EU Ambassador to Armenia met with Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, to discuss the implementation of the visa liberalisation action plan and the upcoming visit of Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, on the 12th March. The EU is strongly committed to supporting Armenia in driving forward key reforms in document security, border and migration management, public order and fundamental rights. Under the Resilience and Growth Plan, the EU will be rolling out several assistance measures to this end.
On 5 November 2025, the European Commission presented the visa liberalisation action plan to Armenian authorities, in Yerevan. The Plan outlines the technical and policy requirements across these important reform areas that Armenia needs to fulfil before a visa-free regime for its citizens can be introduced.
