On April 24, marking the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a tribute was paid to the memory of the victims at the khachkar located in the Armenian Park in Warsaw, with the participation of soldiers from the Warsaw Garrison Command.
Ambassador Alexander Arzoumanian addressed the significance of the day, ongoing racial and ethnic intolerance in the 21st century, manifestations of hatred, and new mass atrocities committed on that basis. He also spoke about Armenia’s efforts to identify early warning signs of such crimes and to promote their prevention.
This was followed by an intercessory prayer delivered by Reverend Father Minas Abegha Hakverdyan, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Poland, and Archpriest Józef Naumowicz, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Catholic Church in Poland. The ceremony continued with the laying of flowers.
Members of Armenian-Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group, representatives and leaders of Armenian community organizations in Poland were also present at the commemorative event.
