H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN, participated in the Annual Session of the UN Peacebuilding Commission held on June 25, 2026.
In his statement, Ambassador Hovhannisyan highlighted that as a member of the Peacebuilding Commission for the first time, Armenia welcomes the inaugural Peacebuilding Week and the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture.
Armenia’s Permanent Representative stressed that the Peacebuilding Commission has established itself as a unique platform for dialogue, partnership-building and policy coherence across the peace, development and human rights pillars. The recently adopted Peacebuilding Architecture Review twin resolutions reaffirm the importance of prevention, national ownership, inclusion and integrated approaches as essential foundations for sustaining peace.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan also emphasized that the Commission also serves as an important bridge between the Security Council, ECOSOC and the General Assembly, helping to connect peace and security, development and human rights perspectives in support of sustaining peace.
