Francis Kurkdjian, the founder of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, has announced that he has been awarded the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest national distinction.

“With profound gratitude, I learned that I have been named a Knight of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur).

I consider this distinction a great honour, and today I share it with all those who have stood by my side throughout the years.

This recognition also inspires me to continue the work of the PerFumum Foundation in the service of the art of perfumery and the preservation of its heritage, as well as the mission of the Francis Kurkdjian Foundation, which supports diversity and seeks to make culture more accessible to people who are far removed from it.

Finally, I remember with deep emotion my grandparents, survivors of the Armenian Genocide, who found refuge in France. Their courage, their trust in their new homeland, and the values they passed on to me give this distinction a particularly profound meaning.

Thank you for this honour, and for the many kind and heartfelt messages that have deeply moved me,” the Armenian-born perfumer wrote on his Instagram page.
