The oppositionists gave such appraisal on the occasion of Jirayr Seifilian’s arrest.
NSS press center has spread information the day before that Lebanon citizen Jirayr Seyfilian and some of his adherents, who were arrested on December 10, had organized”power interference into the coming political processes of Armenia”. It is said in the announcement; “ As a result of active-intelligence actions undeniable proofs had been furnished that “Unification of Armenian Volunteers” organization, not being registered by the RA law, has decided to demonstrate ant juridical, armed intervention in the coming political processes, in particularly in the elections 2007.” NSS notes that some leaders of that organization have publicly summoned in the close meeting on December 2, to get rid of the current authorities by armed struggle. It is also said that the leaders of “Unification of Armenian Volunteers” had decided to make the opposition political insubordination and clashes. “It has also been decided to make pressure on the political oppositionist structures to initiate anti-juridical actions against RA authorities.”
The representatives of the opposition gathered at the hall of “Armenia-Marriott” hotel to defend Jirayr Sefilian, the head of “Defense of liberated territories” organization and Vardan Malkhasian, responsible for Ashtarak office of “Hayrenik u Pativ” Party, former chief of police of that city.
On Saturday envenoming the NSS officials also visited the activists of “Civic insubordination” movement, FM former Minister Alexander Arzoumanian said about it. All oppositionist forces were taking part in the meeting, RPA and ARF representatives had also been invited but the they hadn’t come. Michael Apresian, the commander of “Artsakh” regiment summoned the participants of the meeting: Either join or we loose this country, including Armenia, we have nothing else to say”. NA parliamentarian Hmayak Hovhannisian said that he was present in the meeting held by “Unification of Armenian volunteers” organization. “And as I am the only deputy who was present at that meeting and made a speech where I said that I completely shared the responsibility and would demand to arrest me too. I was present and there was no summon of revolt. There was a sensitive atmosphere, as people were present there who had shed their blood for victory and worry about its future fate.
Aram Karapetian informed that Jirayr Seifilian was arrested in a restaurant in his wife’s presence, 15 person with masks entered the restaurant arrested him and took with them”. The representatives of political powers gathered and wanted to demand to set the arrested persons free. “NT” leader Aram Karapetian said: “The political arena of Armenia is well informed about such processes, when the authorities take measures to terror both the political field and the public before the elections or some processes. There are two important circumstances here: the coming elections, when the authority wants to be reproduced at any cost and NKR conflict”.
