Three ANC activists were arrested

Yesterday the court of the first instance of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts satisfied the petition of the preliminary investigation organ and chose two-month arrest as a measure of restraint for 3 of 7 activists of the Armenian National Congress, taken into custody on August 9, Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan and Sargis Gevorgyan. Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan released the fourth activist, Vahagn Gevorgyan who was also taken to the court. He and three other activists of the Congress, Sahak Muradyan, Areg Gevorgyan and Davit Kiramijyan, kept in a preventive-detention cell, were released on their own recognizance. The latter three after being released from the preventive-detention cell joined the citizens and ANC supporters gathered outside the court building to demand the immediate release of the young people. While the case of the arrested was being discussed, two ambulance cars arrived near the court building to provide medical assistance first to one of the gathered in front of the court building and second to
Tigran Arakelyan who was inside the building.
