The witnessed MP suggests that the governor of the region of Syunik apologized afterwards

November 15,2011 15:35

Samvel Sargsyan, an MP and a businessman, who was present at another “heroic act” of the governor of the region of Syunik in the “Marriot” hotel, said at “Aravot’s” request to explain the incident, “What should I say – there is nothing else to add.” Responding to our question “has it happened like the madam said”, Mr. Sargsyan said, “She made it a bit complicated, there is no beating-up, there was a minor scuffle, I was there, we didn’t allow it to become too complicated.”

I inquired “as a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) member, how do you assess your fellow-member’s move?”, “Well, certainly it would be better, if it wasn’t like that. The incident itself was rather unpleasant also from the viewpoint of man-woman relationship, without politicizing or without going deep into the problems the incident itself was unpleasant. However, it wasn’t to the extent like he was beating up and so on and so forth… it was a minor scuffle. We were present – I was just accidentally having a meeting there, we witnessed, we didn’t allow. And afterwards he, as a man, approached her, spoke and apologized.” In response to our request to clarify whether Surik Khachatryan had apologized to Silva Hambardzumyan, Samvel Sargsyan said, “Well, in any case he had a private talk with Mrs. Hambardzumyan afterwards. I didn’t allow myself to find out the details of their conversation, I don’t know.”
