A relative of Smbat Ayvazyan, a member of the political council of the “Republic” Party, was allegedly engaged in a sensational fight that took place yesterday in the Lusakert military base. Mr. Ayvazyan reaffirmed during a conversation with Aravot.am that one of the people engaged in a fight was one of his “distant relatives”, “I was informed late in the evening that one of my distant relatives is in Grigor Lusavorich hospital. When I went to the hospital, I witnessed a terrifying scene in the hall – they were taking the kid for examination. He was beaten so violently that I couldn’t recognize him.”
Smbat Ayvazyan’s explained that the fuss around that incident was just “a show made by the establishment”. According to him, “They try to conceal, distort the real situation in the army. They picked an episode to say that the society is to blame for the atmosphere in the army. I think this is against civil society, as civil society actively struggles against the situation in the army. I even have information that the police officers could have prevented that on the spot, in order that it might not led to such a fight – this fuss was incomprehensible.” In Mr. Ayvazyan’s opinion, “I know that relative of mine from his childhood and his culpability is ruled out. He is a kid who has health problems and he has never behaved himself aggressively. I think an incident, a skirmish had taken place, as a result of which that fight occurred.”
