Today www.aravot.am inquired of Aram Z. Sargsyan, the leader of the Republic Party, how he would comment on the news about their party, according to which there were serious problems in the Republic Party – there were controversies between him and Smbat Ayvazyan, the latter was going to gather a group and withdraw from the Republic Party and Aram Sargsyan had made the decision to withdraw from the Congress by himself. Aram Sargsyan replied, “Our party has a statement regarding the withdrawal from the ANC. In that sense, the statement was made unanimously. As for Smbat Ayvazyan, I don’t need to comment, I respect his decision. He has decided to be engaged in public activities, let him do that, what is the problem here? The rest is just rumors and I don’t respond to rumors.”

We asked to clarify whether there were, nonetheless, disagreements between him and Smbat Ayvazyan regarding the withdrawal from the ANC, Aram Zavenich replied, “The decision on the withdrawal from the ANC is printed. That decision was made unanimously.”

We asked Mr. Sargsyan to comment on his brother Armen Z. Sargsyan’s interview, according to which, if he hadn’t been arrested during the 2008 presidential election, he would have stood by Serzh Sargsyan’s side, as Serzh Sargsyan had always had a very warm relationship with their family etc. In response to that, Aram Sargsyan said, “I never give interviews. Let alone on such subjects. I don’t need to respond to rumors. You know what, I am a man who is engaged in political activities, I am responsible for the Republic Party activities and in that sense, I am ready to answer any question, in other senses, I don’t need to respond. Everyone’s opinion must not necessarily correspond to mine.”
