It is known that on December 5 afternoon, in downtown Gyumri, in a 3-storey building between the regional administration building and the court building, 25-year-old Vaghinak Ghazaryan raped a 10-year-old student of the boarding school. There are various speculations on this issue in Gyumri, as the boarding school has previously been a day-care center, many suppose that the underage girl doesn’t have a family, others say that the pervert is just a psychopath.
Aravot.am inquired from the principal of the boarding school what family the kid was from. By the way, we don’t mention the address of the school, at the request of the principal, the incident happened out of the school, on a free day when the child was taken home, therefore, publishing the name of the school will be perceived wrongly and the institution will be discredited. The lady clarified to us that the 10-year-old girl was from a large family being in extremely bad social condition, the father was sick, he suffered from neurosis in legs and is confined to bed, the mother takes care of the family on the social benefit. Only the 10-year-old daughter goes to boarding school, the rest are little. According to the principal of the school, the kid’s mother is a polite and modest woman and the kid is of medium abilities.
As for the psychological state of the kid, according to the principal, her state is presented worse than it really is – the psychiatrist of the boarding school works with the kid, she plays with her friends as usual, attends various groups, in a nutshell, according to the principal, she doesn’t realize what has happened to her.
We inquired from investigator Edgar Aleksanyan who investigated the case in the end, who was the pervert, whether he was a drunk or a psychopath, whether he was condemned before or not. The investigator informed that the latter didn’t have a father and lived with his mother, according to his testimony, he had worked in a bakery, was unemployed at present, had no mental psychiatric clinic record, the documents had been just being examined and it was not revealed yet whether he had been condemned or not.
Where did the boarding school student met the pervert, it turns out that this is not clear either, a preliminary investigation is conducted and they will find out soon whether they were acquainted or not. According to the investigator, the underage lives not far from the scene, in the street parallel to Garegin Nzhdeh. According to him, the unfinished building is behind “Madam” market – the pervert committed the crime on the yard side that is a closed and unnoticeable place.
By the way, the court and region administration buildings are separated by the very market. The parents brought the kid home for the weekend, but did not send her to school on Monday, the kid was raped on the same day at around 1 pm. Now the pervert is in the Artik penitentiary, charges were pressed against him under Paragraph 3, Article 138, i.e. rape against a person under 14 years. The law provides for 8-15 years of imprisonment for this crime.
