Why didn’t the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) respond to the events of March 1? One of members of the Armenian Youth Association (AYA) asked this question during a meeting with National Assembly ARF faction leader Vahan Hovahnnisyan today. Mr. Hovhannisyan responded that they had known then and had repeated continuously that this format of elections caused clashes, “You have probably forgotten our statement, but whom should we have blamed? We blamed the opposition leadership of the time for provocations, because they didn’t have substantial evidence that the election had been rigged. Not having that evidence, they went for a clash and the worst thing is that the leadership did not participate in that clash, they stayed home.”
