With the support of the Orange Foundation and Armenian Eye Care Project 1181 people got eye care in Vayots Dzor region

Joint project of free eye screenings and treatment launched by the Orange Foundation and the Armenian Eye Care Project (AECP) in Vayots Dzor region, which aimed to provide free eye screening services to the residents of the region, as well as treatment for socially vulnerable people, is coming to its end.

In the frames of the project 1,182 adults have undergone eye screening, around 155 adults have undergone deep eye screening in the mobile hospital, 494 glasses have been provided. Around 95 surgeries and laser treatments have been conducted in the mobile hospital in Yeghegnadzor and Jermouk.

Nune Yeghiazaryan, Armenian Eye Care Project Armenian office director said: «Vayots Dzor is not a very highly populaated region, still the accessibility of eye care services is an issue here. That’s why the work relized was very much needed for socially vulnerable people. We are happy to state that the Orange Foundation was again with us, in this marz as well»

To support the works of the AECP in Vayots Dzor region, the Orange Foundation has allotted 1.800.000 AMD.

Nazareth Seferian, Secretary General of the Orange Foundation, said: “Vayots Dzor is the fourth region we have visited with the Armenian Eye Care Project. We could be helpful for a lot of people: return the sight. The mission of Orange as a telecommunication operator is to facilitate communication between people, that’s why communication problems are in the center of our attention. We are happy to say that our cooperation will continue in other regions, as we see we bring real change into peoples’ life”

During July joint works by the Armenian Eye Care Project and the Orange Foundation will continue in Syunik marz. Medical groups will visit Sisian region on July 3-7, Meghri on July 9-10, Kapan on July 11-17 and Goris on July 18-24. The mobile hospital will make a stop in Sisian, Kapan and Goris. All inhabitants of the Syunik marz, without any exception, are invited to have a free eye screening, and those who are socially vulnerable will also have access to free surgery or other treatment.
