Early this morning, Aghasi Arshakyan, a former member of the 3rd convocation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, swam across Lake Van reaching Akhtamar Island, where he lighted candles in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and prayed for our team’s victory at the 40th Chess Olympiad.
During a conversation with Aravot, Aghasi Arshakyan said that he dedicated his swimming to Akhtamar Island to our Olympians, “I entered the water with faith and I said to myself ‘Holy Cross, you are my Tamar, I am coming to you.’ And I came. I swam 4km in 1 hour and 55 minutes. Admittedly, I have suffered some injuries because of this salty water, but never mind, they will heal. I am enormously happy and proud.”
Let us mention that the final round, in which our team will face the Hungarian team and has very good chances to win the prestigious title, has just started.
Aghasi Arshakyan didn’t forget to drink also to the representatives of Ukraine and China, in order that they didn’t lose and our Olympians celebrated their victory without any obstacles.
