The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Answers the Mother of a Man Who Died on March 1

December 06,2012 21:35

“I have generally been absolutely respectful while talking about those who died on March 1. I am probably one of those unique MPs who talked about and called for revealing the concrete killers without doubt,” Hovhannes Sahakyan, an RPA MP, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am today with regard to the doubts expressed by the mother of Tigran Khachatryan who had died on March 1.

Let us remind that she said that “I am against pinning any hope on the government regarding any issue, particularly given the fact that Hovhannes Sahakyan told Radio Liberty that five years had passed and nothing could be revealed. Now do they give another year so he can say six years have passed?” According to Hovhannes Sahakyan, “At the same time, I stated during that speech of mine that the actions taken in the past 5 years to prove, local examination etc… they lose their value as such in the future. I called on political forces not to exploit those killings and not to bring it to the agenda, respecting also the emotional, psychological condition of those persons’ families. It will reopen their wounds. One shouldn’t exploit once again, particularly given the fact that they don’t have any new evidence, new information or arguments. I said that in this situation, it is hard to prove and those people who have that proof, those facts can apply to law-enforcement bodies today, and those killings will be quickly solved without connecting it with a commission.”

In response to our question whether it was possible that the RPA would vote against the ANC proposal to establish a new interim commission on March 1 after the election, because after his words, one was under the impression that they were against the commission, he said: “The RPA was against the commission. We expressed our opinion in the state and legal affairs commission that the issue shouldn’t be politicized. And in the legal system, we are most interested in establishing that commission, in order that if there is another opportunity, we take it to solve those events, move on without politicizing. However, we saw that even in this case, coming to an agreement, giving a gentleman’s word that we will vote in favor after the presidential election, we saw that people in the chamber tried to politicize. Even after this arrangement, there were accusations against both the author and the others. And if the task is to solve, don’t politicize that. If you use this as a political goal, to fill up your political agenda, it is immorality, in my opinion.”
