Why Armenak Dovlatyan did not oppose Ter-Petrosyan, if he was against ANC-PAP line?

November 05,2013 11:37

After the “romance” with PAP, when the parties and politicians constituting part of the alliance began to leave one after another, President of the Green Party of Armenia Armenak Dovlatyan did not take any steps in that direction. Today, when the alliance does no longer exist, and it is well known how the cooperation with PAP will end, Armenak Dovlatyan confesses why he stayed. To our question whether he shares the new political line of ANC-PAP, he replied, “I do not share. ANC alliance has not been dissolved actually. The alliance is there, it exists because the alliance, with which we all took part in the elections, has a faction at the National Assembly. Sos Gimishyan, who expressed against the line, he did not participate in the parliamentary elections with the ANC alliance.

At that point, there were 3 types of ANC: ANC, which was established on August 1st, 2008, then ANC alliance, in which 10 political parties participated in the elections. ANC party included 18 parties, but only 10 of them participated in the elections as an alliance. Later, when the PANM was renamed ANC, it acted as a separate party. ANC established in 2008, we can say, does not exist, though we do not have the decision on its liquidation, because there should be a common decision, including by our party, which has not been made. The ANC is actually not functioning. The line with PAP… you know, there was a big issue for me with whom we cooperate. It was not unacceptable, but I was not encouraging it. There were conversations in various places, and I have told my opinion. I was expecting for the results, which happened. It was not undesirable, but senseless. It could also cooperate with the Republican Party to change them. If it continues like this, they will destroy themselves, let them think about it. We can collaborate, help them to be changed.” To our question if you knew and predict how the ANC-PAP cooperation would end, that it was senseless, why you did not oppose Levon Ter-Petrosyan. At that time, there were discussions on this topic at the ANC alliance, and Levon Zurabyan is constantly reminding that they are not against it. He answered, “You know, it was decided that we do not have tension neither with this nor with that forces. Because we have gone a long process together, it was decided that we will not enter into the conflict neither with this nor with that party and will not interfere. Let everyone achieve its decision in such situation. In other words, we had a neutral position at the moment.”
