Falling into a “bad environment”

October 10,2014 13:42

Today, I am strongly worried about one of the anticipated events, Armenia’s possible affiliation to the Eurasian Economic Union. I do not know what economic consequences it will produce. I doubt that affiliation to this Union will strengthen our security. I am concerned that Armenia will appear in line with three countries that do not keep abreast with the modern world, that are more retarded in many matters than my country.

When you make friends with those better than you, you strive to imitate their strengths, try to learn, improve and manifest with your best features. When you fall into a bad environment, the nastiest features of your character are revealed. I feel sorry that none of our political forces has the courage to say that going to EaEU is wrong. Well, it’s clear that they have their own calculations.

I agree with Eurasian ideologist Alexander Dugin, according to whom, the EaEU will adopt a common value system. It is true. This system suggests subordination of a human, the individual, against the decisions made arbitrary by those in the “top”, deification of “tsar” and the “emperor”, corruption, lawlessness, shadow, organizing public and economic life with “taiga” laws. Hence, they want us to “affiliate” to this environment.

The next event for tomorrow is the opposition rally (let’s, nevertheless, respect the parties and call them an opposition, avoiding the “non-government” funny name), which neither worries me, nor so inspiring. Let those be worried or inspired who have something to gain or lose in either scenario. “With people”, “next to people”, “against people”, “for people”, all of this is, of course, a cynical demagoguery, which is available in all countries. It is an ordinary political process, where the rallies should be an integral part of it in more or less developed countries. Unfortunately, they are rarely held in Armenia, they must be more often so that the government does not go dead. On the other hand, I would recommend my opposition friends not to announce every time that on October 11 or November 26, the “people” will wake up in a new Armenia. Exaggerated expectations inevitably lead to disappointments.

… I am worried that Syunik governor Surik Khachatryan has appointed Zarzand Nikoghosyan his assistant who is mentioned in numerous criminal stories, thus giving his “bodyguard” an official status. I am more concerned about the fate of 15-year-old Shahen Harutyunyan, who is going to be imprisoned for 5 years. Such atrocity against the adolescent is very condemnable.
