Life is not a “nit-picking”

March 28,2015 15:33

“Heritage” party leader Raffi Hovhannisyan spoke of forgiveness on the occasion of the Lent. It received a sharp respond to those who visualize the politics and why only politics, but the whole life as an endless “battle” of mutual “nit-picking”, in which either you or your “foes” will win.

Some sad or unsavory man (before Marx) has said that life is a struggle, and we repeat this desperate allegation without thinking. To me, personally, life is a service, a voluntary implementation of duties that cause pleasure, and the implementation of your adhered ideas and principles is much more important than the estimates that will be voiced from aside.

Buddha said, wise men, who are indifferent to fame and defame look like a solid rock. One can hurt me only when I tend to feel pain. And if this “one” feels that he can hit me, he naturally will continue hitting the same place. But if he realizes that I am absolutely indifferent towards his opinion, why he should trouble himself of inventing new defamations or insults. I do not hurt anyone, no one hurts me, the “war” causes vanish by itself.

Hurt self-esteem motivates people to respond the hatred with hatred, the evil with evil, slander with slander. Thus, the evil is doubled, tripled and multiplied – it is a game with no winners. Everyone equally will lose. It is very likely that the representative of each side will go his “team environment” and praise himself, saying, “I have showed him his place”, or submit a report to his superior about his “nit-picking” work. Anyway, these are minor and temporary pleasures that are nothing compared to the contaminated air that people have to breathe every day.

Now, when prior to the next parliamentary elections, a transformation of the political field is underway, it is very natural that a race of mutual defamation will take place to conquer the “vacant sections” of the opposition. The “instrumentation” of these defamations is known – “sold to the government”, “a customer”, “dhol”, “affiliated with”, “an implementer of Baghramyan-26 orders” and so on.

Under these conditions, the one who speaks of the phenomena rather than personalities will win. The one who (do not be surprised) will respond the evil to kindness, or if not possible, will not respond at all will win. I recommend the politicians, commentators, and publicists to adopt a similar tactics. I am more than sure that no one will follow this advice. As they say, a voice of one crying in the wilderness.
