Political analyst Levon Shirinyan noticed that Armenia’s new relations with the EU may become an improvement ways for the EU-Russia relations. Note that today it became known that the talks over the new legal basis for the relations between the EU and Armenia could begin by the end of this year. Levon Shirinyan believes that with the new possible agreement with the European Union, Armenia begins long-reaching relationships with Europe. “This should not be turned into a political fight, by debating again the EaEU or the Eurasian Union, these two should be compared rather than contrasted, while we are in contrast for already several years.”
In his words, the beginning of new EU-Armenia relations may become a window for Russia to Europe. “The Europeans compare the work in the relationships of allies, and in my opinion, the attitude of Europe and stance towards Russia has been changed as a result of new relations with Armenia.” As to what political component this new agreement with the EU has, the political analyst does not know, however, he assumes what developments could happen in the domestic political life of Armenia after having the possible agreement. “If the Europe imposes democracy to Armenia, our country will have a development chance. Otherwise, we do not have anything to go to Europe, we are Europe-creating people.”
