People and Templates

March 15,2016 11:56

If a person criticizes today’s Russia’s policy, it is not necessarily for him to be the “5th column”, as well as an Azerbaijani, Turkish or American agent. And vice versa, if a person likes Putin’s policy, it does not necessarily imply that the Kremlin, “KGB” or the Russian Embassy to Armenia have installed a “chip” into his head, under the influence of which, he expresses all his judgments. Both sides should be treated as PEOPLE who have the right to express their opinion. The anguish is that the parties perceive each other exclusively thru the “glasses” of their own made templates, and not only each other but also spread out lies about the value systems of the “opposite side”.

For example, it is a lie that homosexuals are kissing each other in every corner of the streets in Holland. But it is also a lie that most of the population of Russia is engaged in alcoholism from morning to night. People with certain predisposition believe in the lies spread out for propaganda purposes and taking the bait, they become the carriers of some absurd stereotypes. We lack in the understanding that PEOPLE are living in Russia, Holland, Greenland and in the jungles of Africa rather than ready-made promotional schemes and formulas. As a person, they, a/ are different; b/ are more complex than any template and formula. Any “typology”, and in reality, a label bedims our brain and deprives of the opportunity to think over, friendly debating and coming to a rational conclusion.

Saying, “we”, I mean, of course, me too. When I see, hear or read something, often my first reaction is, on the one hand, emotional and, on the other hand, based on the previously formed template. It is important not to immediately respond and say, “Stop, I have no right to be guided by negative emotions.” Expressing “cool-headed” judgment and taking too many factors into account turns out to be better.

There is one more psychological method about how to get rid of negative emotions for the person whom you have no grounds to sympathize. You must imagine an event that causes more pleasure to this man. For instance, I often imagine Robert Kocharyan killing a lion.
