RPA MP Margarit Yesayan thinks that it is not objective to criticize only the French co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Note that such criticism was made by the head of the Caucasus Institute Department of the CIS Institute, expert on military affairs, Vladimir Yevseyev. In his interview with “Zhoghovurd” newspaper, he noted, “The work of each of the Minsk Group co-chairs is very important. For example, it seems to me that the French co-chair does not seem to fulfill its commitments.”
In an interview with Aravot.am, Margarit Yesayan said that currently, to put it mildly, the politicians not being in a quiet situation, certainly, would try to appear more catholic than the Pope, “All OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have and still are conducting adequate and appropriate work for the settlement of peace. I do not think that any politician has the right to express such an opinion as this is agreed upon functioning group where everyone has its contribution to the settlement of the issue. No one works more or less.”
To our question of consequently what intention we should see in this criticism by the Russian politician, Mrs. Yesayan replied, “At the moment, there are no negotiations, the MG certainly is working as we have always announced that we are for the peaceful settlement of the issue, and we still announce the same. But various politicians will make various statements in these days: contradictory, conflicting, one against the other country. Naturally, the situation is tense, to say the least, the situation is not calm, and in this situation any politician must try to appear more catholic than the Pope.”

To our observation whether the Minsk Group activities should not be estimated by the common work of the Co-Chairs, Margarit Yesayan replied, “You’re quite right, as this is a common work and the result goes to all three co-chairs, the absence of results is the failure of three of them.” We asked whether she still believes that the only format for the Karabakh settlement at this point is the OSCE Minsk Group, the parliamentarian noted that this issue is already outdates as hostilities are underway, and concluded, “There is no other format at this point. But in the situation when there are hostilities on the border, we have announced at the highest level that no negotiations can take place as long as the same co-chair countries have not given an adequate response to Azerbaijan and impose to suspend hostilities. As long as it is otherwise, talking about any negotiation table is meaningless.”
