The coordinator of the “Founding Parliament” opposition movement Garegin Chugaszyan, who is accused of organizing mass disorders and who is currently in a hunger-strike with the demand of releasing political prisoners, who was also released in the result of the release from preventative detention, said during the interview in front of “Matenadaran”, that, according to him, the process of release of political prisoners has commenced.

“It has commenced still with Andrias Ghukasyan’s release from detention. It continues by my release from detention. The new authorities have assured me that the process will go on in the succeeding days. It means that the first demand of my hunger-strike is fulfilled,” said Chugaszyan, mentioning that the first Deputy Prime Minister ararat Mirzoyan has guaranteed him.

“Other releases will follow in coming weeks, appeals will be examined. Releases will take place with the use of different tools,” he informed.

He also added that he had got an additional demand from the authorities – to apply amnesty towards prisoners committed minor offences out of social needs.

The third demand, as stated by him, is the establishment of a transitional justice institution, which will give quick solutions to problematic legal issues.

Garegin Chugaszyan also said that the “Founding Parliament” is going to support the new authorities, and in case of possible conspiracies by the Republican Party, they will implement mass actions of peaceful disobedience.
